About us

Our board

Carnage Arts Boosters is a volunteer board of parents working alongside the arts faculty at Carnage Magnet Middle School. We meet regularly to plan fundraising, support events, and make sure the arts program has what it needs.

Carnage Arts Boosters is a parent-led organization supporting the arts at Carnage Magnet Middle School. We fund the instruments, supplies, music, and experiences that turn a strong arts program into an exceptional one — across band, chorus, guitar, strings, dance, theater, piano, and visual art.

How the board is structured

The Arts Boosters run on a small, dedicated set of volunteer roles. Some are elected each year, others are standing committees and area representatives that keep us connected to every discipline at Carnage. If any of these positions sound like a fit, we'd love to hear from you.

Elected Officers

  • President

Presides at all Board and General Membership meetings, generally supervises the affairs of the organization, and appoints Chairpersons of Committees.

  • President-Elect / Vice President

Presides at meetings in the absence of the President and assists in supervising the organization, shadowing in preparation to serve as President the following year. May serve as VP if unable to step into the President role.

  • Secretary

Records attendance, minutes, and decisions at all Board and general membership meetings; distributes minutes; conducts formal correspondence; and maintains the organization's records.

  • Treasurer

Registered agent and official guardian of all bank accounts. Responsible for financial transactions, record-keeping, reporting, paying invoices, preparing the annual budget, and filing required tax forms with the IRS and NC Department of Revenue.

  • Assistant Treasurer

Assists with the duties of Treasurer, shadowing in preparation to serve as Treasurer the following year. Corresponds with donors and communicates with parents who have Matching Gifts from their employer.

Committees & Non-Elected Roles

  • Website Administrator

Manages the Arts Boosters website — posting and updating information and making improvements as needed.

  • Fundraising Committee

Investigates and recommends fundraising opportunities to the Board and runs those activities with the Board's help. Currently a phantom fundraiser in the fall and online popcorn sales in the spring.

  • Membership & Communications Committee

Gathers and maintains membership data, conveys information through the Principal's newsletter and Google group, and works to improve communication with members, arts staff, and the wider school community.

  • Social Media Administrator

Keeps the Arts Boosters' social channels current, including the Facebook page and other community-facing accounts.

  • Grants Committee

Researches grant opportunities and writes requests for grants to support the organization's work.

Area Representatives

Stays familiar with their arts area by communicating with the teacher or director, helps find volunteers (especially for fundraising tables at performances), encourages membership, and attends Board meetings to represent the needs of their area. Two representatives per area is ideal so all levels are covered.

  • Chorus Representative

  • Dance Representative

  • Strings Representative

  • Theatre Representative

  • Visual Arts Representative

  • Band Representative

  • Piano Representative

  • PTSA Representative
